摘要

Zinc dialkyldithiophosphates (ZnDTPs) have been widely used as one of the primary additives for formulation of engine lubricants as well as industrial oils. Over half a century a large number of studies have been carried out to understand the mechanism of formation of the boundary lubrication film derived from ZnDTPs. In particular, many efforts have been made to explore the major parameters affecting the antiwear performance and the load carrying capacity. On the other hand, there are a few studies on the friction-velocity characteristics of boundary film between steels except for wet clutch friction properties using a combination of paper-based material and steel. In the present study, the effect of alkyl group of ZnDTP on the friction-velocity characteristics is studied as a part to examine the frictional behavior of boundary lubrication film.
