Amperometric gas sensors using electrolyte solution have been improved by use of a reactive electrolytic solution, hovel gas diffusion electrode, and fine sensor structure. Acidic gas sensor consisting of aqueous solution of KJ and KIO3 showed a good selectivity and linear response to acidic gas concentration. NO2 sensor was developed by a novel gas diffusion electrode, which showed good selectivity against coexisting gases such as ozone. On the basis of these technologies, we reached to develop a miniature SO2 sensor that can be equipped in the wrist-watch type gas monitor.
