Dinotefuran Release Properties from Controlled Release Formulations

Dinotefuran is a novel neonicotinoid compound of low toxicity discovered by Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. This compound is highly systemic and controls a broad range of pests in various crops, however, release control of dinotefuran is necessary for rice nursery box application because of its high water solubility so a controlled release granule containing wax was developed. It was suggested that the ester value and crystallinity of the wax were effective to control the release rate and there was a good linear relationship between the release rate and water temperature. The release rate was controlled by modifying the composition, especially the amount of amorphous silicone dioxide.
