Perchlorate is an oxidizing anion most commonly found in the solid salts of ammonium,potassium and sodium.These salts are highly water soluble;therefore,perchlorate has been discovered in ground and surface waters throughout the United States.In these natural aqueous systems,perchlorate is both extremely mobile and persistent since it adheres poorly to mineral and organic materials and is relatively inert in typical ground and surface water environments.
