摘要

The process of extracting uranium(U)ore from Earth's crust and subsequent treatments including milling and chemical processing,which aim to provide fuel sources for both civilian and military uses,also yield large amounts of residues in solid and liquid forms,which contain various hazardous heavy metal ions,both radioactive and nonradioactive,such as U,Th,Ra and Rn.These contaminants,if not treated properly,result in air,soil and both surface and ground water contamination.
