Cleaning air for fuel cell technology is receiving utmost importance day by day. Among various molecular contaminants, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are an essential class of contaminants that requires elimination from air. Moreover, weight and volume of the catalytic converter for fuel cell application are critical issues to be considered. Catalyst coated monolith and packed bed reactors are intended for this purpose but they were originally developed at different operating conditions. Also they result higher pressure drop and lower solid-fluid mass transfer rates. Sintered microfibers materials provide a versatile carrier for entrapping catalysts or sorbents particles.
