In many oil fields less than a third of the oil in place is actually recovered. Small increases in recovery could result in vast increases in produced crude oil by enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods [1]. Mixed wettability zones contain one half of the current field reservoirs in the Middle East. The ability to alter this wettability could result in huge increases in oil production. The surface activity of asphaltenes impacts drainage; hence EOR methods mandate understanding asphaltene interfacial properties.
