The coupling of the on-column asphaltene precipitation and redissolution technique with capillary Flow-Injection Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICPMS) for the simultaneous determination of nickel and vanadium in crudes oils and their maltenes and asphaltene fractions was demonstrated successfully. A total of fourteen petroleum samples were tested, which included five crude oils and their maltenes and asphaltenes.
