A history of the beginning of the neutrino experiments carried out in the Kolar Gold Fields,South India,is described.Back in the early '60s a collaboration between the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research,Bombay,(now Mumbai),India,Osaka City University,Japan, and Durham University,England started with the intention of looking for Cosmic Ray Neutrinos. The location was to be the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF),South India as it was necessary to go deep underground in order to remove the background and enhance the signal to noise ratio.
