This article presents two applications of nonlinear Finite Element Analysis (FEA). In the first example, FEA predicts the stress-strain response of a superelastic Nitinol device at different austen-ite finish temperatures (A_f) when tested at 37 deg C. The second example illustrates the method for evaluating a stent's fatigue performance. The analyses are found to agree well with the theoretical prediction and/or experimental measurement. The focus of this presentation is on the use of FEA as a predictive design tool for fast prototyping of Nitinol medical devices.
