Increasing demand volatility and frequent production schedule changes present numerous challenges for manufacturers and supply chain managers. This study investigates how cellular manufacturing and manufacturing flexibilities can aid to increase delivery speed. Based on real manufacturing data, a simulation model is designed for various volume, mix, and routing flexibilities in presence of volatile demand. One cell versus two cell configurations is compared with job shop to determine the shortest delivery lead-time for a single tier supply chain network.
