We have been developing the prediction technique of materials behavior in whole region of twin screw extruders(TSEs). We developed the 3-D simulation code for pellet particle motion in the solid conveying zone using the discrete element method. The unrealistic time consumption of computation was found to be required for the application to the industrial problem and then we studied the reduction of computational load. We also developed the 3-D code for melt flow in the unfilled melt pumping zone by the moving particle semi-implicit method. We proposed the improved analysis technique to keep the particle density constant near the gas-liquid interface. We extended this technique to 3-D analysis of unfilled melt flow in TSEs. But fluid particle number used in the calculation was insufficient to obtain the realistic result.
