This study was performed for a purpose of developing a passive sampler, which can quantify formaldehyde and acetaldehyde in indoor air by sampling for about 1 hour. The method investigated in this research is a one to measure the fluorescence of s-triazolo[3,4-a]-phthalazine and 3-methyl-s-triazolo[3,4-a]phthalazine which comes from the reaction of 1-hydrazinophthalazine and HCHO and CHsCHO by HPLC with fluorescence detector. Passive sampler packed with alkali-impregnated of 0.7 g in a porous tube made from polyethylene resin was prepared. The uptake rate of HCHO and CH3CHO were 2.55 and 3.60 ug/ppm centre dot hr each. The minimum measuring limit were 0.015 ppm and 0.028 ppm for HCHO and CHsCHO with 1 hour sampling.
