Fish larvae have high amino acid requirements; since these are important energy sources (Wright and Fyhn, 2001) and are the building blocks of protein synthesis that ultimately result in growth (Carter and Houlihan, 2001). Dietary amino acid imbalances result in unavoidable amino acid losses, since all the indispensable amino acids need to be in optimum ratio to each other to allow the maximisation of protein synthesis (Carter and Houlihan, 2001). The aim of this study was to analyse the effect of different dietary amino acid profiles on gilthead seabream (Sparus auratd) larvae.
