The development of technology for controlling reproductive maturation in shrimp farming depends on in-depth knowledge on the physiology of ovarian development. To understand the molecular mechanisms of ovarian maturation, differential display technique was used to identify genes that are differentially expressed in the ovary and hepatopancreas at different maturation stages of Metapenaeus ensis.
