Project ASTRO: A national network helping teachers families with astronomy education

摘要

o links volunteer astronomers (professional & amateur) in one-on-one part nerships with 4th - 9th grade teachers in their communities o partners receive training in 2-day workshops that provide them with a wide range of effective teaching techniques, hands-on activities, and useful resources. o astronomers commit to making at least 4 visits to "their" classroom each year and work with teacher on a plan appropriate for their interests and the students' needs. o few astronomers assist youth groups and after-school groups, rather than formal classes. osupported by the Informal Science Education Program of NSF, NASA'sOffices of Space Science and Education, several foundations and corporations, and individual donations.
