BIODEGRADATION OF POLYVINYL ALCOHOL IN AQUEOUS ENVIRONMENT

The objective of this study was to investigate the biodegradation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) in an aqueous environment with plant treatment active sludge. Tests were conducted using ASTM Test Method D5271 (ASTM, 1992), which measures the extent and rate of biodegradation of polymeric material in an aerobic, aqueous environment and is performed using a respirometer.
