The formation of ordered mono- and multi- layers of both organicand inorganic materials on solid substrates with variousfunctionalities has been a subject of intensive research in view of thepossible applications in a wide variety of fields in nanotechnologyand nanoscience. Metal and semiconductor nanoclusters are goodcandidates as building blocks for the multilayer formation becausethey have various interesting characteristics, which are differentfrom those of the bulk materials.
