3H- AND l4C-RO0275646, A VITAMIN D ANALOG

Vitamin D compounds, their metabolites and synthetic analogs have demonstrated a variety of biological activities. Intensive researches on vitamin D are fueled in light of the high potential for applications as drugs in treating a diverse range of human diseases such as rickets, renal osteodystrophy, osteoporosis, psoriasis, leukemia, breast cancer, prostate cancer, AIDS, and Alzheimer's disease (1). RO0275646 is a synthetic analog of vitamin D, and it shows promising activity as a bone-protecting agent. Two radioactive ligands of RO0275646, one labeled with tritium and another with carbon-14, were synthesized as probes for metabolism studies.
