摘要

A new design of the spiral flow tool has been used to gain further insight into the dynamic interactions of the composite material during the compression molding process.The geometry of the new design has been improved from its predecessor,and an addition of an extensive data acquisition system has been made to the new spkal flow tool.The spkal flow tool simulates a very long flow of the composite material,while collecting processing parameters during molding with respect to time.The collected data could be used to obtain material parameters that quantitatively describe and identify composite materials with different compositions.These material parameters could be also used to predict the behavior of the material under various molding conditions.A mathematical model has been developed and experimentally verified for the spkal flow tool of SMC.Spkal flow is a popular method to evaluate SMC's ability to flow.A method is also proposed on how to evaluate the friction coefficient using this test.
