High Strength, High Conductivity and Microstructure of Nanostructured Cu-Ag Wires

In the paper are presented chosen own research results on modeling composite filamentary nanostructure Cu-Ag alloys with silver addition up to 15 % mass. Manufacturing technology this kind of composites is using properties of binary system Cu-Ag and bases on variable solubility of silver on copper and copper on silver in range of solid solutions. Suitable quantity and process sequence of cold plastic working and heat treatment type solubility-precipitate allows to obtain wires constituted from Cu and Ag fibers with nanometric cross dimensions. In the paper is presented a method of continuous casting of alloys, deformation scheme and results of research on mechanical and electrical properties of casted materials during converting them on micro wires with tensile strength higher than 1200 MPa and electrical conductivity higher than 40 MS/m. Results of structural research showing evolution of structure in researched material is presented too.
