The influence of fertilizers and chemical means of plant protection on ground beetles i some crops

The influence of fertilizers and phytosanitary pesticide applications on ground beetles inhabiting the crops of spring rape and spring wheat was studied in the forest steppe of Western Siberia. The change of density of carabid beetles over time in comparison with the control (the plots where fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides and fungicides were omitted) was shown. The indices of biodiversity and species dominance in the carabid community, which formed under different conditions of rape and wheatcultivation, indicated similar communities. Under these geographic and climatic conditions, using fertilizers and pesticides in spring rape and wheat crops does not significantly influence the ground beetle community.
