ANALYSIS OF THE MECHANICAL PROPERTY DATA REPORTING IN THE 2002 JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN CERAMIC SOCIETY

The Journal of The American Ceramic Society (JACerS)'s target audience is people interested in the advancement of technical ceramics. A key component of that advancement is mechanical behavior. Of the 563 papers published in JACerS in 2002, 101 contained a component of mechanical property data. Using a simple three step screening criteria, this study found that only 20 of the 101 papers provided the reader with sufficient information to independently assess the mechanical property information. Further details and implications of these findings are discussed in this paper.
