This paper provides a summary discussion of the efforts undertaken by the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency through the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program with the Russian Federation to eliminate Submarine Ballistic Missile Launchers and the dismantling of the associated Strategic Ballistic Missile Submarines (SSBNs).
