Carbon has a wide range of transport properties which are strongly dependent on the graphitic (sp{sup}2) to tetrahedral (sp{sup}3) carbon bonding ratio. Fullerenes comprise the third class of pure carbon, after diamond and graphite. The conductivity of van der Waals fullerene solids is governed by a thermal activation mechanism. Polymerization modifies the band structure with a decrease of activation energy. At certain conditions a transition to a metallic behavior is observed experimentally. Polymerization of fullerenes also results in a transition from diamagnetic to paramagnetic behavior.
