摘要

This work deals with the development of computational methods for nonlinear collapse analysis of three-dimensional framed structures, including three-dimensional finite elements with material and geometric nonlinearities, and some strategies and techniques for the solution of the nonlinear problem. The main objective is to obtain an accurate and computationally efficient numerical tool for the investigation of the behaviour of three-dimensional frames in general, with special attention on the reassessment of existing fixed platforms for offshore oil exploitation.
