A Semiautomatic Software System Framework for Logic Design for Probabilistic Relational Databases

Probabilistic relational databases have extended from the relational database model by incorporating probability measures to capture the uncertainty associated with data items. There are many important probabilistic database applications including consolidation the results of market surveys; improving internet comparison shopping; managing and consolidating the on-line retail business information including pricing and features for different products; consolidating crime-fighting information from different witnesses. Previous research focuses on the consolidation of probabilistic data and querying from the probabilistic relational databases, only few research addresses the logic design issues including entity-relationship modeling and normalization. In this paper, we present a semiautomated software system framework for a logic design tool called LogicD.PDB for developing the Improved Enhanced Entity-Relationship (IEER) modeling and Normalization for probabilistic relational databases. A user interface of LogicD.PDB has been developing by C#.NET Programming techniques and the relational database tables generated by LogicD.PDB are represented by XML techniques. These techniques are particularly suitable to communicate with heterogeneous databases in a distributed internetworking environment.
