What can focus groups offer us?

This paper describes the key advantages and limitations of focus groups, and the main purposes for which they can be used within the ergonomics and product design professions. It concludes that the method offers great benefits and is a valuable addition to the standard 'toolkit', although for some applications, adaptations to the basic format are helpful.
