The behaviour of three HFC refrigerants (R-134a, R-125 and R-32), in a synthetic Polyol-Ester (POE) oil is analysed in terms of liquid-vapour equilibrium. Solubility curves are obtained from the measurement of the pressure and the temperature, ranging from -20°Cto 60°C, of each refrigerant/oil pair. Simulation results clearly demonstrate that, for the same pressure and temperature conditions, the dissolved amount of R-134a in 3MA-POE oil is quasi-equivalent to that of R-125. On the contrary, R-32 dissolves, at equivalent temperature and pressure conditions, to a lower extend than R-134a or R-125. Furthermore, the present study shows that the differential solubility strongly depends on the refrigerant/oil composition. The possible impacts of such phenomena are thus evoked.
