F/P MMCs made of Al_2O_3 particle and fiber reinforcement were fabricated by squeeze casting, and were found to have superior tensile strength and elastic modulus than F MMCs having the same reinforcement volume fraction. The increase in tensile strength is a peculiar property of F/P MMCs and is taken as a consequence of a uniform particulate distribution. The elastic modulus of F/P MMCs is predictable by applying ROM and the predictions are in good agreement with experimental results.
