Standardization of Software Development In Contract Research Organizations in Pharmaceutical Data Management

Quality of software development is still plagued by a low degree of reusability, inconsistency in data definitions, lack of comprehensive standardization of processes, and sometimes, insufficient integration of technologies. Organizations that actually improve software quality will, however, also improve productivity. Delivering quality in systems eliminates rework, the major cause of lack of productivity. Application bugs and defects are responsible for $85 billion per year in lost revenue due to system downtime. Reliability requires more than just testing an application after it is built. Reliability has to be integrated into the application development process and built into the business plan.
