This paper outlines the joint co-operation between Ford and PSA Peugeot Citroen on diesel engine program development and manufacture for passenger car and light commercial applications. In the ever competitive automotive market there are opportunities and benefits for major manufacturers to forge strategic alliances - to meet future challenges in emission, fuel economy, cost, quality and timing; whilst providing fully competitive products with outstanding refinement, power, torque, fuel economy and driveability. Both companies believe that the combination of their expertise and resources will achieve these efficiencies, and support growth, design leadership and economies of scale in engineering of future diesel products. This paper explores the overall joint co-operation and the key principles applied to ensure long-term success of this partnership, and concludes with the benefits of this co-operation.
