The new polychloroprene latices MT and MH offer different performance properties than either Latex HC or HH. Latex MT provides significantly better tack and initial peel strength values due to its low crystallinity and low gel content. It improved the initial peel strength values when combined with either Latex HH or HC. However, it did not yield optimum heat resistance. The combination of Latex HH and MH gave the best heat resistance and also produced the highest final peel strength values. Blends of these new latices with other polychloroprene latices deliver better peel strength and softening point values than what was obtained by using a single latex. These two new latices have unique properties that provide additional formulating options for improving the adhesive performance of polychloroprene latex adhesives.
