The long term distribution of environmental loading is investigated for four quite different monopod platforms located in close proximity on Australia's North West Shelf (NWS). The distributions are seen to vary widely due to interacting met-ocean and platform geometry effects. When optimised to API RP2A, the platforms thus exhibit quite different return periods of failure. Target RSRs and partial load factors are derived to give more consistent reliability levels and are compared with the values for the NWS given in ISO 13819-2.
