摘要

The present paper reports an industry-oriented work in the area of automatic fault diagnostic for the crimping process of electric terminals. Experimental research focused on punches wear monitoring and crimping defect diagnosability. However, hands on experience showed the urgency of considering misalignments detection methods. A tool, integrating instrumentation for detection of punches ruin and terminal misalignments, has been developed. A real time diagnostic system prototype was also developed, based on an extended analysis of crimping force, which is already used by manufacturers to detect crimping errors. Aspects related with feature selection, learning strategy and classification algorithms are discussed. Although research on this subject is not finished, current results are presented.
