PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect the fault of a network element.;SOLUTION: This automatic diagnostic system 1 is provided with a fault detection unit 10 for detecting an individual fault and a test unit 13 for testing the cause of the individual fault concerning a network element 3N where the individual fault occurs. Not only the fault is detected but also the cause of that individual fault is positively searched so that processing at the time of fault processing can be automated. Since a data base 14 has plural pieces of fault data respectively corresponding to plural faults, the test unit 13 can specifically test the cause of the individual fault on the basis of the fault data corresponding to the individual fault detected by the fault detection unit 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
