A number of exploratory deposits have been produced by the two different processes ,carried out by varying some key parameters in order to define the operating conditions able to efficiently induce structural modifications in the feeding amorphous carbon nanopow-ders and to generate non-planar graphitic forms. The Raman studies of the local bonding arrangement confirms that all the produced tubular and curled nanostructures are exclusively formed by sp~2-coordinated carbon atoms: the observation by electron microscopy and the electron diffraction analysis indicate that these nanostructures are the result of curling and closing of graphitic networks or graphene sheets.
