The electrochemical deposition of molybdenum-rhenium oxides, Mo_xRe_(1-x)O_3, from acidic peroxo-polymolybdo-perrhenate solutions is described. The presence of perrhenate in the deposition solution is observed to accelerate the electrodeposition rate of Mo_xRe_(1-x)O_3 in comparison to that seen for MoO_3. Cyclic voltammetry, spectroelectrochemistry, and electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) experiments are used to understand the electrodeposition mechanism.
