摘要

Using Tensile Strength and Resonant Frequency testing, and b isolating the variables of temperature, shot blasting and machining, the results of experiments reported here suggest that there is no actual "aging" of gray iron itself. The observed aging effect can be explained as a result of the relaxation of stresses put into the iron by the casting process itself, shot blasting and/or machining.
