EXPERIENCES OF GOVERNMENTAL AND NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS IN CAPACITY BUILDING FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY

The Foundation "Energies pour le Monde" (with state-approved status), founded by Pr. Alain LIEBARD, acts to make energy and development accessible to all inhabitants of the planet in a manner which fully respects the environment. Since its launching, nearly 10 million Euro have been dedicated to rural energy projects and 300,000 people have benefited from efficient renewable energy. In order to carry out its objectives, FONDEM has initiated two major types of action: On field actions: (1) direct field projects (2) pilot research and development studies (3) lead expertise initiatives (4) advise governments or regional structures Awareness and training: (1) organise communication, information, aware ness campaigns, edition of publications (2) collect and diffuse information (3) assure trainings and facilitations As far as projects are concerned, they are mainly dedicated to social applications of electricity. Therefore, the number of beneficiaries is high, they come from all the social sectors of the population, not excluding the poor, they contribute to the awareness of the population concerning renewable energies.
