In France, fuel is taxed via a number of smaller taxes of varying importance, such as the TIPP (domestic tax on petroleum products), VAT (value added tax), the FSH (the hydrocarbons support fund), and the levies imposed for the IFP (French Petroleum Institute) and the CPDC (Professional Fuel Distribution Committee). These will soon be cut to just three (TIPP, IFP and VAT). These taxes currently account for 62% of the price of diesel oil.
