Although polyimides have been widely used in microelectronics, one of the disadvantages of these polymers is that these are insoluble n common solvents. We have systematically investigated the synthesis and characterization of soluble polyimides based on aromatic diamines bearing long-chain alkyl groups, and also those containing dendritic moieties. In this study, novel diamine monomers, bearing hree long-chain alkyl groups connected by phenylester linkages and he corresponding soluble polyimides were synthesized. Their properties such as thermal stability, solubility, and surface wettability were investigated. Recently, various printing methods such as an ink- et print method have been investigated for manufacturing polymeric hin-films, and the surface wettability and their control methods have became important. Thus, we have also investigated the surface wettability control of these polyimides by UV light irradiation that is a conventional method for microlithography.
