Block copolymers are an interesting and versatile class of materials and their synthesis, characterization, and self-assembly in various physical states such as in the bulk, in thin films, or in solution has been intensely studied during the past decades. Peculiar advantages of block copolymers are their intrinsic dimensions, a variety of synthetic techniques, and the facile control over architecture and chemical functionality, turning them into fascinating tools for the preparation of nanostructured systems.
