Baicalin (7-glucuronic acid,5,6-dihydroxyflavone) is a flavonoid compound purified from the Chinese traditional medicine Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, which has been used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic agent in the treatment of a variety of inflammatory diseases. Until now, there are a few studies about the possible role of baicalin in prevention and treatment of periodontal disease. In our prevenient study, we has approved that 10ng/ml baicalin could stimulate the cell metabolism and total protein synthesis of Human Periodontal Ligament Cells[1]. In this work, we prepared the baicalin sustained-release oral film then investigated the drug release performance in vitro and antibacterial activity in simulated saliva environment.
