Polymer blending is one of the most effective and economical methods in developing new materials that have distinctive properties from those of each constituent. In general, most of incompatible polymer pairs necessarily require the use of compatibilizers to improve the compatibility and weak physical properties of the polymer blends. Functional polymers carrying anhydride groups along the backbone exhibit enhanced adhesion properties to polar materials like polyamide, metals, and glass and are extensively employed as compatibilizing materials for polymer blends.
