Highly oil and water repellent or superamphiphobic surfaces are resistant to contamination by many naturally occurring pollutants and are highly useful. For example, skyscrapers with superamphiphobic windows and walls will help save labour and material costs associated with their cleaning. A chemist wearing superamphiphobic apparel will less likely suffer from attack by corrosive liquids such as acids and bases. There have been many reports over the last 2 decades on superhydrophobic surfaces and more recently on superamphiphobic surfaces. Block copolymers have not been used for this application. In this talk, we will highlight the advantages of using block copolymers for this purpose and demonstrate the superior properties of superamphiphobic block copolymer coatings.
