Anthradithiophene-Containing Copolymers for High Performance Organic Thin-Film Transistors and Solar Cells

Conjugated polymers are fast realizing their potential in applications for low-cost and large-area optoelectronic devices . Material innovation, on the other hand, remains important in order to achieve competitive performance. Based on the superior electronic properties of acenes such as intrinsic low bandgap and high field-effect mobility , we have designed conjugated copolymers containing pentacene and anthradithiophene. The anthradithiophene moiety holds more promises for its better chemical stability with phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as compared to pentacene. In this report, the thin-film transistor and solar cell performance of a series of anthradithiophene containing copolymers is summarized.
