Impact of The NOx SIP Call and NSR Issues on Natural Gas lC Engines and Turbines

1. Under the NOx SIP Call 22 states will likely require retrofit control of approximately 300 lC engines, to achieve NOx reductions of 80-90% 2. Ozone Nonattainment Area SIPs for up to 20 areas and the OTC states may require additional retrofit NOx controls for lC engines and combustion turbines 3. NSR regulations and policies of EPA and State Air Agencies are working to end "grandfathered" facilities 4. Under existing NSR rules the status of turbines receiving major module replacement/overhaul is unresolved.
