Ionic liquids are suitable media for the synthesis of metallic NPs: Well dispersed, with narrow size distribution; Successfully extended to the synthesis of MnNPs; Probable formation of bimetallic MnCuNPs upon mixing of both metals; The resulting suspensions can be directly applied onto substrates: ILs are non-volatile and non flammable; The NPs are readily stabilized by the IL. These suspensions can be annealed to form metallic deposits: IL are thermally stable (up to 300°C in our experiments). These MnCu deposits could be suitable candidates for the self-formation of barriers.
