Form-generation system imitating the developmental process of organism for obtaining diverse design solutions

The conventional parametric design methods such as optimum design method are difficult to apply to the early stage of design process. In this stage of design process, obtaining diverse candidates for design solutions are required. This paper describes a design method obtaining diverse design solutions. As a first step, form-generation system that generates diverse forms without an initial form was proposed. In this case, the diversity of organism was noted, and "induction" and "apical dominance" in the developmental process of organism were imitated. This paper discusses the effectiveness of the proposed system by applying the system to the artifacts design.
